On the job

Exterior work lives or dies on preparation. Coating over chalking, peeling or damp substrate wastes the paint and your money.

We wash, scrape, sand, prime and caulk before a finish coat goes on, and we schedule around temperature and dew point rather than the calendar.

What's included

  • Pressure washing and mildew treatment
  • Scraping, sanding and feathering failed coatings
  • Rot and gap repair, caulking and re-puttying
  • Bonding and rust-inhibitive primers
  • Two coats of exterior-grade acrylic or elastomeric
  • Siding, stucco, brick, soffit, fascia, railings and doors

The details

Season and conditions

Most exterior coatings need surface and air temperatures above 10°C and falling humidity. In Durham that gives us roughly May through mid-October. We will not push a job into November to hit a booking.

Painting brick and stucco

Masonry needs breathable mineral or elastomeric coatings, not standard wall paint — trapped moisture is what causes sheet peeling later.

Common questions

How long will it last?

With proper prep, eight to twelve years on siding and five to eight on high-exposure trim and south-facing elevations.
